The Kind Counselling Clinic is situated in Tkaronto, now recognized as Toronto. Presently, Tkaronto falls under Treaty #13 and the Williams Treaties, representing the ancestral lands of numerous First Nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. The Kind Counselling Clinic acknowledges that these nations continue to face the challenges of colonization and displacement, where verbal acknowledgments of land often replace genuine restitution. As settlers, newcomers, refugees, and Indigenous peoples, we are all participants in this treaty, guided by principles of peace, friendship, and mutual respect. We remain aware of the broken treaties that still affect Turtle Island today and recognize our duty as Treaty people to engage in a sincere and ongoing journey of truth and reconciliation with all our communities.
